A CATCH OF CONSEQUENCE Screenplay by BERNIE WILLIAMS, Based on the novel by DIANA NORMAN

HEATED
Screenplay by JULIE LIVINGSTON

Jody (Jo) Stanovich is strong, tough and far from “normal”. People in her small town don’t know what to make of her, and just about everyone thinks she’ll never amount to anything. Her hard-headed father is sure of it.

Then, the unexpected happens. After a bar fight where Jo almost kills the three local goons who picked on her one too many times, the news makes its way to Professional Wrestling scout Barry Gold, an aging hot-shot who is trying to save his own career. Gold smells an opportunity – and he jumps on it.

Jo isn’t exactly a good fit for wrestling. Her hair-trigger temper and defensive attitude quickly earn her a reputation as a loose cannon – and in pro wrestling, which is only “fake” until someone gets badly hurt, a person you can’t trust is a person you won’t wrestle. But Barry is desperate to bring in a star, and he hooks Jo up with disgraced wrestling phenomenon, Mick Shannon.

Mick’s training and guidance forces Jo to confront her demons, but it is ultimately a crushing blow to head that inspires Jo to change the way she sees herself. By trusting herself, Jo proves both her intelligence and her integrity – and becomes a hero, a star and a new person all on her own terms.

“Heated” is a colorful, gritty look at the world of professional wrestling and its many characters. But its message is about the deeper and more meaningful ways pro-wrestling is real – the real cutthroat nature of the business, the real athleticism demanded of the wrestlers, the real pain they feel when they work, the real code of conduct that governs their behavior – and how those realities help turn a hostile misfit into a champion.
